100% bio-based award-winning thin plywood by Koskisen, with Plantics circular bio-binder

May 26, 2025

In collaboration with their partner Koskisen, Plantics proudly presents a new application using the Plantics circular bio-binder: Zero ThinPly. Koskisen is launching this new thin plywood product, made entirely from bio-based materials. The Plantics bio-binder ensures a fossil-free, non-toxic and circular product. At trade fair Interzum in Cologne this new product was awarded with the “High Product Quality” award.

Zero ThinPly contains no added formaldehyde, phenolic compounds, or urea. This meets customers’ growing demand for a broader range of fully bio-based material options. The bio-bonded thin plywood is intended for indoor use, for example in laser-cut design products such as lamps, jewelry, and various interior decoration items. It is particularly well-suited for indoor air-critical applications, where strict formaldehyde emission limits apply.

Non-toxic adhesive
The new plant-based adhesive is non-toxic and shows virtually no difference in strength compared to traditional adhesives. Strength values achieved in dry conditions for the bio-bonded Zero ThinPly match those of conventionally bonded products. Plantics developed the adhesive used in Zero ThinPly in collaboration with Koskisen, tailored to their product requirements.

Interzum award
