Improving gas detection with high-quality nanoparticles, meet Nanohybrids
Meet Nano Hybrids, a startup company from the UvA Faculty of Science that focuses on the sustainable production of nanoparticles for gas sensing and biotech applications. Their unique production method originated in a fundamental research project at the university. Today, Nano Hybrids actively collaborates with the gas sensing industry to enhance their sensors.
During a fundamental research project by UvA Associate Professor Stefania Grecea at the UvA Van ‘t Hoff Institute for Molecular Sciences, scientists discovered a new method for producing nanoparticles with several advantages. Recognising the potential of this method, Grecea and postdoctoral researcher Olivier Lugier founded the company Nano Hybrids.
Nano Hybrids produces high-quality nanoparticles in a sustainable way, suitable for a broad range of applications. Lugier, now CEO of the company: ‘We are currently focusing on applications in gas-sensing materials, and in the future we want to expand into biotech applications.’
